last year i wrote a review of my first pair of
dovetail workwear pants for JLC, along with some carhartts which i will
pan review discuss later. this is a recap of the $99 pair of american-made pants i expected to last. solid 6/10 for me, product description from
the dovetail site:
firstly, yes. pockets, flexibility, and goddamn if they don't make my ass look phenomenal; when they aren't strangling me or 10 minutes later, constantly falling halfway down my cheeks. i wore these pants a 1-2 times a week for about 6 months, before my thick thighs burst out to freedom, and the hem on the side pocket self destructed.
upon recent communications with dovetail regarding pants in their winter line, i was told the maven is not designed to be a "hardcore abrasion resistant pant". welp, past the age of 8, i have never been considered a skinny person, and yes, my thighs rub together when i walk. additionally, as seen in the first picture, the right leg is twisted, and continues to torque as you wear the pants. in my sewing experience, this problem is because the pattern piece was cut at an angle, rather than along the grain, and the fabric will constantly attempt to return to its original state.
perhaps other dovetail pants fit and last better, but especially in my current state of quasi-unemployment, i can't afford to test that theory.
